Ruut Kiiski is a versatile Finnish conductor with background in choir, singing and church music. WIth a long experience working with the voice, Ruut is particularly devoted to the hectic world of opera. Interest in contemporary and rarely performed music is also a strength that she uses especially when planning interesting and innovative concert programs.

Her latest concert at the Tampere Biennale -festival is available through this link. The program included two world premieres: Requiem, a violin concerto by Markku Klami with Maria Puusaari as soloist, and Matilda Seppälä’s new composition Hetki jolloin huomaamme toisemme.

"Tampere Philharmonic showed remarkable versatility, moving from the first half’s finely tuned sensitivity to the full‑bodied intensity of the latter. Much of this is thanks to conductor Ruut Kiiski, whose clear, decisive direction brought coherence to a wide range of works."
